Nuchchina Unde is a traditional Karnataka delicacy made from coarsely ground lentils mixed with herbs, spices, and coconut, then steamed to perfection. Nutritious and flavorful, these soft dumplings are a staple during festive occasions and family meals alike. Served with coconut chutney, majjige huli, or a drizzle of ghee, they make for a light yet satisfying dish. This recipe takes about 30mins to prepare 10 nuchchina unde.
Ingredients:
Toor dal - 1 cup [soak 2 hours]
Ginger - 1 inch
Salt - to taste
Green chillies - 6-7
Coconut - 2/3 cup [grated]
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves - 2 tsp [ chopped]
Method:
Coarsely grind together soaked toor dal, ginger, salt and green chillies. Add grated coconut, turmeric powder and chopped coriander leaves. Mix it all together. Take small amount and shape them. Steam it in a pressure cooker for 12 mins.
