With its balance of tanginess and subtle spices, Dahi Shimla Mirch is a quick and delicious way to turn humble capsicum into a delightful meal.



Dahi Shimla Mirch is a simple yet flavorful Indian curry where crisp bell peppers are gently cooked in a creamy, spiced yogurt gravy. Popular in North Indian home kitchens, this dish is known for its delicate balance of tanginess and mild heat. The natural sweetness of capsicum pairs beautifully with the richness of curd and aromatic spices. Quick to prepare and comforting to eat, it makes a perfect accompaniment to roti, paratha, or steamed rice.



Ingredients:

  • Onion - 1 (thinly sliced)

  • Green capsicum - 1 (thinly sliced)

  • Green chillies - 2 (finely chopped)

  • Peanuts - 2 tbsp (roasted and roughly ground)

  • Red chilli powder- 2 tsp

  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp

  • Salt - to taste

  • Gram flour - 1 tbsp

  • Oil - 1 tbsp + 1 tbsp

  • Cumin - 1 tsp

  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp

  • Curds - 1 cup

  • Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp (finely chopped)


Method:

In a bowl, mix sliced onion, sliced capsicum, chopped green chillies, ground peanuts, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, gram flour and 1 tbsp oil.


In a kadai, heat 1 tbsp of oil. Add cumin seeds and ginger garlic paste. Add the onion and capsicum mixture and sauté. Add curds and bring it to a boil. Finis with chopped coriander garnish.


Serve this creamy Dahi Shimla Mirch hot with soft rotis or rice for a comforting and satisfying meal. Simple ingredients, balanced flavors, and quick preparation make it a must-try everyday curry.
