The perfect curry for Matar(peas) lovers. This rich and tangy curry is a must try recipe which I am sure will become a family favorite.

This is a recipe I tried on watching the cookery show "Bombat Bhojana" hosted by Sihi Kahi Chandru many years ago. It is a very simple recipe and doesn't take a lot of prep time.
The recipe takes 30 mins for 4-5 servings.
Ingredients:
Peas - 1 cup
Tomato - 2 (roughly chopped) + 1 cup (finely chopped)
Onion - 2 (roughly chopped)
Khowa - 1/2 cup
Green chillies - 2 tsp (finely chopped)
Ginger - 1 inch (grated)
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Red chilly powder - 3-4 tsp
Garam masala - 2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Coriander - 1 tsp (finely chopped)
Method:
In a vessel, boil peas with little salt till it softens.
In a kadai, heat 1 tbsp oil. Add roughly chopped onion and tomato. Cook till tomato softens. Cool the mixture and grind to form a smooth paste.
In a kadai, heat oil. Add cumin seeds and finely chopped green chillies. Add khowa and mix till everything is well combined. Add the onion-tomato paste and mix well till the paste is cooked and comes to a boil. Add the finely chopped tomato, red chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala and grated ginger. Finally add the cooked peas and mix well. Garnish with finely chopped coriander and serve hot.
Matar Manohara would be perfect with Chapathi, Roti, Naan or Kulcha. Do let me know how you liked it in the comments below.
