One of the common street food found in Bangalore is the spicy Gobi Manchurian. Though it is categorized as "Chinese" the dish is tweaked a lot to make it tastier for us Indians. Hence I say it is completely Desi!!

This is a recipe which I have taken bits and pieces form many recipes on the net. Basically the main ingredients and method is mostly same in all recipes.
The preparation time is around 45 mins for 3 servings.
Ingredients:
Cauliflower - 30 florets (all sizes)
Maida - 3/4 cup
Corn flour - 1/4 cup + 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Oil - for frying + 2 tbsp
Ginger - 1 inch
Green chillies - 2
Onion - 1/3 cup (chopped)
Capsicum - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Tomato sauce - 2 tbsp
Chilli sauce - 1 tbsp
Vinegar - 1 tbsp
Soy sauce - 2 tsp
Pepper - 1 tsp (powdered)
Salt - to taste
Method:
In a vessel, boil around 3 cups of water such that all the cauliflower florets can be easily immersed in it. Add 1 tsp of salt to it and add the florets once the water starts to boil. Drain the water after 2 mins and run the florets through cold water to stop the cooking process.
In a mixing bowl, add maida, 1/4 cup corn floor, red chilli powder and salt to taste. Mix them into a slightly thick batter by adding small quantities of water. Add all the cauliflower florets into the batter and let it marinate for 2 mins. Deep fry the individual florets till golden brown. Fry the florets twice if you feel they are not crispy.
In a pan, add 2 tbsp oil and ginger once oil is heated. Add chopped onion and fry till till it is translucent. Add chopped capsicum and fry. Add in all the sauces - tomato sauce, chilli sauce, vinegar and soy sauce. Add pepper powder and salt and mix. In a cup, mix 1 tsp of corn flour with water such that there are no lumps. Add this mixture into the pan and mix. Add the fried cauliflower florets and mix well.
So yeah the process might seem tedious but the taste is worth the efforts. You can have home made gobi manchurian whenever you crave for it!!
