Crispy onion pakoda with a cup of hot coffee/tea at home on a rainy evening is every Banglorian's heaven. I am sure most of you would have tried out making this yourselves. Sharing my recipe as well as this has never failed me.

This is an easy recipe for which the ingredients are usually at home and can be prepared quickly. I have tried variations of this recipe as well, but found that this one makes the crispiest pakoda.

It takes about 30 mins for 4 servings.

Ingredients:

  • Onions - 2 medium sized (sliced thinly)

  • Curry leaves - 8-10 leaves (chopped)

  • Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp (chopped)

  • Ginger - 1 inch (grated)

  • Green chilli - 2 (chopped)

  • Besan - 1 cup

  • Rice flour - 2 tbsp

  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Salt - to taste

  • Oil

Method:

In a large mixing bowl, add chopped onions, curry leaves, coriander leaves, ginger and green chillies. Add besan, rice flour, red chilli powder and salt. Mix till all ingredients are well combined. Add water as required to hold all the other ingredients. Add 2 tbsp heated oil and mix again. Take small quantities of the mixture and deep fry in heated oil till it turns crispy and golden brown.

I am a tea person (which is rare for a south Indian :P ), and hence made tea to go with it.

Let me know what you thought of the recipe in the comments below.
